For the Tucson shooting victims...

Since my dad is prior military, Tucson, Arizona is one of the many places that I can safely call home. That being said, I can't help but feel something of a closeness to what happened just a few short days ago. In case you haven't heard, a madman jumped out of a taxicab brandishing a weapon, taking aim at a political event that congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was holding at a local Safeway grocery store. Mrs. Giffords is, thankfully, making a steady recovery after being shot in the head. However, thirteen (fourteen according to some sources) people were injured and six people were slain. The slain included a federal judge, an aide to Mrs. Giffords, and (most horrifyingly of all in my opinion) a nine-year-old girl named Christina-Taylor Green. Ms. Green's funeral was held today, with thousands of people coming to pay respects to the third grader. The most I caught of it was when the 9/11 flag was unveiled in front of the church on CNN, but from the photos I saw later on, it was painfully obvious that something powerful went down in Tucson today.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the blog, I know, but I believe that I should be able to contribute something as a show of support for the countless victims, families, friends, and like myself, outsiders looking in who can't in a million years know the pain but feel a sadness inside nonetheless... even if these words are never seen or heard outside of my own person.

As for the maniac in question, Jared Loughner... well, I think some of the things I would like to say are best kept to myself. However, I only hope that proper justice will be served and everybody affected by the tragedy at the Tuscon Safeway will receive some sort of closure.

My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, both the dead, wounded, and the personally affected, at one of the towns that I call home.
